GSL Education are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Autism Teaching Assistant to work at a welcoming school in Lincoln. As an Autism Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students to support their individual learning needs and contribute to a positive classroom environment. You will play a key role in ensuring students are engaged, confident, and supported throughout their learning journey. Responsibilities for an Autism Teaching Assistant: Provide one-to-one and group support to students with autism. Assist in developing and implementing tailored learning plans to support students' individual needs. Monitor students' progress and provide feedback to the class teacher. Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment by supporting social, emotional, and academic development. Implement strategies to manage student behaviour, using positive reinforcement techniques. Work with the teacher to assess and adapt teaching resources to meet the needs of students with autism. Help students adapt to classroom routines and assist in activities that encourage socialisation. Collaborate with other staff members to share best practices and strategies for supporting students with autism. Provide assistance during school trips or extracurricular activities to ensure students' safety and well-being. Autism Teaching Assistant Requirements: Previous experience working with students with autism or special educational needs as an Autism Teaching Assistant is essential. Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students. Patient, empathetic, and understanding approach to working with students with autism. Ability to manage challenging behaviours with patience and positivity. Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare, Teaching Assistant, or Special Educational Needs. A proactive approach and willingness to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff members. A positive attitude towards inclusion and a passion for helping students succeed.
