Job Description Title Transport & Logistics Manager Reports to Warehouse Manager Version/Date March 2023v1 Written by: Operations Manager Location Warehouse Area Operations Purpose of role The Transport & Logistics Manager is responsible for ensuring that the supply chain is efficient and effective throughout the business. With a main focus on the organisation, storing and monitoring the distribution of goods, whilst ensuring that the product and stocks are shipped/transported to their appropriate destinations. Engagement with all staff members throughout the business whilst obtaining a one team approach from all members. Leading by example and helping continue to move the business forward by promoting the business’s core values. Main Duties of the role: Leadership Lead by example and inspire others to follow the company’s guiding principles of safety, reliability, integrity, innovation, and service. Ensure all necessary paperwork and administration from the warehouse areas are understood, and filed correctly. Be responsible for scheduling arrivals / despatch for both own product and 3 rd party This will include planning time slots where necessary and covering logistics on inbound / outbound. To audit paperwork relevant to the warehouse area – Delivery notes, GRN’s, etc. Manage the day to day, developing and inspiring the team by promoting the businesses core values. Work closely with internal management to execute all planned programs. Be the ’Responsible Person’ on site in the absence of business Management. Manage daily work of the departmental area of responsibility. Develop and execute the transport inbound/dispatch plan according to the daily/weekly quantity requirements. Responsible for reviewing performance trend data, identifying, and implementing line improvement activities. Communicate company information daily/weekly to all team members within your area of responsibility. Understand goals and standards, implement department procedures to meet those standards, and promote them gaining positive results from teammates. Be actively involved within the Business Strategic (Continuous Improvement) projects Safety Champion ‘Safety Culture’ and be an ambassador for ‘Behavioural Based Safety’. Report all H&S issues in line with business procedures. Develop and recommend measures to improve safety, warehousing, logistics and efficiency. Liaise with hauliers and driver on a day to day basis, ensuring site compliance and the safety to all 3 rd party visitors. Quality Establish, monitor, and maintain all appropriate quality procedures to assure compliance to the business and customer specifications. Ensure all quality related information for regulatory reviews and reporting is fully documented and maintained. Adhere to business GMP’s (good manufacturing practices), safety procedures and all other quality processes. Assist and support Quality Systems management in the conduct of daily operations within warehousing area as required. Establish and enforce the use of standardised operating processes and procedures to ensure consistent quality while minimizing cost. KPI/Costs Analytical ability to understand warehouse efficiencies regarding labour, transport, and warehousing methods. Accountable for ensuring the smooth running of all transport inbound/dispatch logistics is planned and costed efficiently – in guidance to the business costing model. Training & Improvements Be an active team player engaging in cross functional working across the business, enabling faster decision making, increased innovation and improving problem solving. Provide training as needed to maintain an efficient and knowledgeable workforce.
