Your role will be to lead a team to deliver world leading genetic progress to customers in Northern Ireland You will achieve this through the development of our outstanding people, working together as a team to deliver growth Essential Duties And Responsibilities Managing performance of direct reports Increasing effectiveness and profitability of the business Support a team succession plan, as an output from the talent management process, and agreed development plans in place for all direct reports Work with the EMEA leadership team to develop strategies yielding a stronger combined commercial offering that will produce continued growth and expansion of the business People Development You will build and develop a team of outstanding leaders You will deliver targeted training and development to all staff to continue the customer view that Genus ABS staff are the best in the field of dairy and beef genetics. You will work with the Talent Acquisition and HR team to attract and retain talent, review reward strategies ensuring that they are competitive and aligned with Genus’s approach to pay. To create a team environment which encourages sharing of ideas, where people feel that they can challenge one another, ultimately to capitalise on opportunities faster than in more mature markets. Customers Provide direction to the teams to focus on growing progressive dairy farmers whilst delivering and demonstrating the value of genetic progress. Create a one team mindset with sales and service viewed as one seamless solution by customers. Acknowledge that in a number of markets, medium sized dairy farmers still create a huge proportion of value for the business, therefore demanding a cost effective solution to support this. To provide feedback surrounding the wants and needs of customers, both in terms of dairy and beef genetics, as well as the service and tools to fuly capture the value of this. Innovate through a digital platform to provide a disruptive solution in the market place, which provides a highly cost effective route to market for small and/or transactional customers. Manage the supply of genetics to deliver growth Grow Market share and results Explore potential new collaborators to grow the market, through the frozen semen model, but also exploring alternative routes to market through innovation in both technology and business model Deliver a targeted approach to providing tailored customer solutions, asking for 100% of their genetics business, where possible on medium term (3yr) contracts. Capitalise on opportunities in the market, which as a team allow the ability to deliver double digit growth. Embrace the diversity of the region to also de-risk the team’s performance. E.g. As one geography becomes under pressure, accelerate with opportunities in other parts of the country. Requirements Demonstrate a high level of commercial flair, have a successful track record in business and sound operational management Ideally you'll be educated to degree level (Business or Animal Sciences) with an Agricultural/Scientific background Considerable knowledge of the dairy and beef genetics markets, with an understanding of animal health which pertains to adjacent products. Significant experience at Senior Management level, preferably in the genetics field and with excellent negotiating skills, financial acumen and analytical ability Evidenced experience of building excellent relationships with key stakeholders and influencing key decision makers Able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills with the ability to communicate with and effectively motivate a dynamic team The ability to travel within the U.K and sometimes into Europe and the rest of the world is an essential requirement of the role.
