What you will be doing:
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced communications professional to join our award-winning in-house Communications team at LNER as a Communications Manager for our English regions. As our Communications Manager, you'll be responsible for leading our stakeholder engagement across England including MPs, relevant council leaders and officials, metro mayors, combined authorities, business organisations and universities to ensure support for our aspirations and collaboration achieving them.
This role will also involve ensuring that:
* Senior stakeholders in England are aware of and informed about our commercial ambitions, innovation, service aspirations and constraints.
* LNER, at a senior level and across communications, timetable planning and commercial development, is aware of the aspirations of senior stakeholders in England, and is engaged on opportunities to collaborate to achieve those aspirations.
* A high level of coordination between LNER, Network Rail, other operators and the Department for Transport on communications and engagement about services and infrastructure aspirations relevant to stakeholders in England.
* The DfT and GBRTT are satisfied of the maturity of the conversation between LNER and our senior route transport stakeholders in England.
* The above is considered and incorporated in the communications and marketing issued by LNER.
This will be achieved by advising, leading, challenging and coordinating between senior stakeholders, senior levels at LNER and across LNER's timetable, commercial planning and communications teams.
What you'll need:
We're looking for someone who is a seasoned communications professional and has the ability to work at both strategic and tactical levels and across multiple channels. You'll also have:
* A degree level or equivalent experience.
* Proven stakeholder engagement experience, with a thorough understanding of the England regions.
* Excellent influencing skills, with experience of lobbying local and national officials.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to craft and adapt messages to engage both external and internal customers.
* Ability to work independently to set goals.
* Resilience and a passion for working in a fast-paced pressured environment.
* Knowledge of the rail industry would be highly advantageous.
* Crisis communications experience (desirable).
