REE Automotive (Nasdaq: REE) is changing the electric mobility and aims at becoming the standard for electric vehicles. REE’s disruptive corner technology enables a completely flat and modular chassis that supports mission-specific EVs from class 1 to class 6 for commercial vehicles and people movers.
REE is currently searching for a Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer for a 2-3 month contract with the option to go permanent.
This person will be the primary liaison with the company’s suppliers, with responsibility for the investigation, analysis and correction of problems in quality, delivery and service, as well as new product introduction design for sub-supplier development strategy.
This is based out of our Coventry office.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop sub-supplier monitoring and reaction plan, including escalation path to REE.
2. Work with suppliers to resolve quality and delivery issues as necessary (using and maintaining 8D).
3. Support suppliers with APQP in order to facilitate timely and effective introduction of new parts/processes. Monitor supplier timing plans to ensure that they are realistic and being achieved.
4. Initiate and review supplier PPAPs adhering to company guidelines and requirements of the program.
5. Develop and maintain systematic reporting to suppliers on their quality and delivery performance, feeding performance data back into REE for use on updates of the approved supplier list.
6. Conduct audits at suppliers inclusive of capacity analysis when required to ensure the integrity of the supply chain.
7. Manage supplier requalification requirements.
8. Develop supply base to ensure IATF16949 compliance and certification.
9. Conduct internal audits to support the REE audit schedule.
10. Validate supplier Quality Assurance Framework and support VA activities to achieve total cost reduction.
11. Conduct in-depth review and follow-up on the implementation of supplier action plans for poor report card performance.
12. Ensure supplier adherence to the Supplier Quality Manual throughout the supply base.
13. Work with REE Quality Leaders to develop standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation at REE suppliers.
14. Support preparations for review of Supplier Quality KPIs, countermeasures and annual action plans for supplier quality PPM, on-time delivery, late supplier 8D responses, etc.
Minimum Requirements:
1. OEM or Vehicle level experience is a must.
2. Graduate level (or equivalent) in Engineering or Quality (or five years experience in SQA role).
3. Familiar with ISO9001, IATF16949, VDA 6.3, VDA 6.5, 8D reports and auditing, preferably with knowledge of ISO 14001.
4. Sound understanding of lean manufacturing and processing skills.
5. Experienced in conducting audits to meet IATF16949 / VDA guidelines and requirements with lead auditor certification in VDA OR IATF.
6. Proven experience of working with and managing suppliers.
7. Self-motivated and dynamic with a “can do” attitude.
8. Full Driving license and Passport.
9. Willingness to travel as this role WILL feature international travel to suppliers.
10. In-depth knowledge of APQP processes and core tools.
11. Demonstrated skill in analytical and quantitative approach to problem solving.
12. Experienced in usage of various gauges and measurement systems.
13. Strong background of successfully applying quality tools used in the automotive industry (Electric Vehicle experience preferred).
14. Thorough understanding of FMEAs, Control Plans, Flow Diagrams, SPC and In-Process Inspection.
15. Organization and time management skills are critical.
16. Self-motivated and goal-oriented with a strong personal drive for success.
17. Ability to work with and influence others.
18. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
