More detail about the role As Ophthalmology Matron, you will be based in the Ophthalmology Department at North Devon District Hospital and South Molton Eye Centre and will have a unique opportunity to lead service improvement, transformation and drive the governance agenda across outpatient and emergency patient pathways. You will work closely with our Care Group leadership team to ensure assurance and provision of assure safe care to patients and service users, and maintain a safe environment. Additionally, you will be expected to provide and assure evidence-based care to individual patient/ service users and groups; continually review and develop own, service and organisational effectiveness; lead service improvement and actively contribute to the body of knowledge through research. As a leader within the service establishing an effective workplace culture will be essential alongside the delivery of sustained person-centred, safe and effective care through self-awareness, leadership, active learning, development, improvement and innovation. We are looking for someone with a passion for quality improvement who, through strong leadership, can deliver the strategic objectives of the speciality. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential, with the ability to motivate others, to identify innovative ways of working and enact positive change. Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week. Monday to Friday with possible weekend, evening and on-call working.
