Power Electronics & Battery – Electric Vehicle Research (916) Location: Cranfield Hourly Rate: £27.00 We are seeking a Power Electronics & Battery Engineer for a globally recognised automotive client in Cranfield. This is a long-term contract role, with the potential to extend over several years. The successful candidate will work in various areas, including automotive trends, electric vehicle batteries, advanced power electronics, and electricity network integration, with expertise in one or more of these fields being an advantage. The role will also require direct involvement in ongoing projects, attendance at European technical conferences, and the production of high-quality, fact-based communications. The candidate will also travel across Europe and internationally to support research in advanced automotive battery chemistry. Key Responsibilities: • Lead annual projects related to Power Electronics and Battery technologies in the EV market. • Work on both on-vehicle and off-vehicle energy solution programs, contributing to overall energy strategies. • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to determine competency. • Contribute to monthly and annual reports, respond positively to feedback, and prioritise valuable outputs. • Demonstrate expertise in applied chemistry, particularly in energy storage applications. • Collaborate with a high-performing, results-oriented team, promoting psychological safety and adherence to client values. • Support the electric vehicle research team by conducting trend research, horizon scanning, and data analysis. • Understand safety requirements for working with High Voltage and electrical hardware systems. Qualifications & Experience: • Degree in Chemistry or a related discipline. • Experience in data analysis within industries such as automotive, power electronics, powertrains, or energy networks. • Strong background in researching and improving the chemical composition of active materials for energy storage applications. • Proficiency in software for analyzing large datasets is a distinct advantage. • Ability to identify stakeholder needs and create clear, technical reports. Hours & Pay: • Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week. • Hourly rate: £27.00.
