The opportunity:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive, and dynamic IT Procurement and Vendor Management Portfolio Manager to join our team. As the IT Procurement and Vendor Management Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing procurement and supplier management activities across all IT categories. Your role will involve providing strategic direction, ensuring performance targets are met, and identifying opportunities to drive commercial value and enhance customer proposition; targeted at £5 million set annually and delivered through team initiatives. You will also serve as the point of escalation for all matters related to procurement and vendor management.
To excel in this role, you must have credibility within the Senior Leaders Group and extensive experience in both sourcing and supplier management. You will lead a team of 6 direct reports who are responsible for supplier management and/or sourcing activities.
What will you be doing?
* Provide people leadership, development, and coaching to deliver a high-performing team that consistently delivers continuous improvement, added value, cost reductions, and alignment with strategic priorities.
* Shape and drive IT category strategies, including spend analysis and supply market development, to support business and functional strategies.
* Execute the annual plan to drive benefits through sourcing, contract management, and supplier management in line with targets.
* Ensure compliance with third-party landscape and lead remediation programs where necessary, while keeping key stakeholders informed and consulted.
* Stay updated on external IT supplier markets and trends to ensure access to required skills.
* Collaborate with the Group to maximise enterprise value from sourcing events and ongoing vendor management.
* Define the long-term direction of strategic procurement and vendor management processes and services in alignment with the business environment and strategic commitments.
* Engage with senior stakeholders to consult and advise on service improvements, ensuring the Procurement and Vendor Management offering meets expectations.
* Allocate resources effectively to drive the most value.
* Anticipate the impact of changing landscapes, such as AI and digitalisation, on roles and approaches.
* Continuously enhance knowledge by staying informed of market developments and gaining external insights.
* Manage overall portfolio and resource planning, including pipeline and activity priorities across the wider team.
* Identify skills gaps and enhance existing skills to drive continuous improvement.
* Contribute to recruitment and succession planning.
* Regularly interact with Governance, Compliance, and Legal teams to ensure compliance with Procurement & Vendor Management processes and procedures.
* Embed resilience and sustainability into the supplier management framework and propositions.
* Continuously improve the supplier's control environment to effectively mitigate current and future risks.
What are we looking for?
* Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to set strategic objectives.
* Strong IT background with a deep understanding of IT sourcing and supplier management.
* Proven experience in change/project management, vendor management, service management, sourcing advisory, contract management, business transformation, or related fields.
* Working knowledge of regulatory aspects within the organisation's operating environment, particularly in the insurance sector in the UK and beyond.
* Experience in developing high-quality documentation, agreements, professional presentations, and executive/board reporting materials.
* Proficiency in negotiating technical and commercial contractual terms.
* Ability to facilitate customer strategy sessions and conduct workshops to identify and create sourcing opportunities.
* Recognised industry professional qualification (e.g., CIPS / ISM) or equivalent working experience in IT procurement and vendor management.
