About the Role
Our client, a highly successful and high-performing secondary academy in Beckenham, is seeking an experienced and passionate Director of Performing Arts to lead and enhance the quality of teaching and learning within the subject. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to play a key role in shaping the performing arts provision from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5, ensuring high standards and inspiring a love for the subject among students.
The successful candidate will be an outstanding drama teacher with strong leadership skills, a track record of raising achievement, and experience in curriculum development.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the Performing Arts faculty, driving outstanding teaching and learning across all key stages.
* Develop and implement a broad, balanced, and high-quality curriculum in line with the academy’s aims.
* Manage and deploy resources effectively, ensuring the highest standards in student progress and achievement.
* Support and mentor staff, fostering a culture of continuous professional development.
* Embed effective behaviour for learning strategies within the faculty.
* Drive literacy development across the curriculum through innovative approaches.
* Contribute to the academy’s strategic vision, implementing policies and initiatives that enhance student experience and outcomes.
* Act as an inspiring role model in both teaching and pastoral responsibilities.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
* QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
* A minimum of two years’ teaching experience, with a proven track record of raising achievement.
* Experience in leading and managing others to drive high standards.
* A strong understanding of curriculum innovation and assessment for learning strategies.
* High-level ICT skills and knowledge of how technology can enhance learning.
* Experience in presenting to a wide audience, including teachers, students, and parents.
* A passion for developing students’ skills, confidence, and creativity through performing arts.
