We are seeking nurses with a passion for palliative care, highly motivated & forward thinking to work within the existing caring & dynamic team of nurses. These positions will have occasional rotation to nights within our Ward.
You will be expected to have an understanding of the importance of multi-professional team working that are vital to effective team working & practice them at all times & to participate in change & development of practice. Participate in organising the individual nursing team in the absence of the Band 5B/Ward Sister/Charge Nurse & to co-ordinate the Ward in their absence. Also to participate in ensuring adequate staffing of the Ward. Maintain effective communication networks with all departments within the hospice to maintain a seamless delivery of specialist palliative care services.
You will take responsibility for your professional development, which will be monitored as part of the annual appraisal review. Maintain current NMC registration & adhere to the NMC Code of Conduct at all times.
Full/part time working hours considered, salary pro rata for part time hours. Enhancements paid for shifts worked overnight, weekends & on Bank Holidays.
Main duties of the job
Provide appropriate physical, emotional and spiritual carein agreement with the people under our care and those that love them. Consult and liaise with both the nursing andmultidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of holistic care. Use evidence based practice when planning care. Communicate effectively and appropriately with people under our care & those that love them. Liaise with other professionals involved in their care. Recognise and report changes in the condition of people under our care andrespond appropriately to maintain effective symptom control. Implement nursing procedures correctly. Ensure that documentation for people under our care reflects a holistic account of interventions for them. Maintain clinical records and associated documentation written and electronic in accordance with SFH policies. Accurately document care given within NMC guidelines. Participate in the annual hospice UK and clinical auditprogrammes to evaluate areas of clinical practice as requested. Be a reflective practitioner. Have an identified area of special interest of clinicalpractice.
Communicate effectively with people under our care, those that love them and other visitors. Participate in discussion, ensure effective communication with the clinical team when planning and evaluating care needs. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure high quality holistic care. Effectively use IT systems to ensure records are kept updated.

We are a dynamic, forward thinking organisation delivering a full range of specialist palliative care services forpeople under our carewith life limiting illness. We achieved Outstanding in our CQC inspection & have reconfigured our services to meet the changing needs of our local community. We support 5 Clinical Commissioning Groups & have a robust governance structure in place. We provide inpatient clinical services within a modern, personal & friendly 18-bedded ward, as well as Specialist Community Crisis Support Service, Hospice at Home Service & Specialist Day Therapy Service. We also have the hospice Pepperell Education Centre that has an excellent reputation for delivering high quality education programmes and study days.

3. Actively participate in the Saint Francis Hospice reflective practice programme and meet mandatory attendance requirements.

SMOKING: The hospice acknowledges its responsibility to provide a safe, smoke free environment, for its employees, service users and visitors. Smoking is therefore not permitted at any point whilst on duty, in accordance with the guidelines set down within the Hospice No Smoking Policy.
REGISTRATION COMPLAINCE/CODE OF CONDUCT :
All employees who are required to register with a professional body to enable them to practice within their profession are required to comply with their code of conduct and requirements of their professional registration.
WORKING TIME REGULATIONS: The Working Time Regulations 1998 require that you should not work more than an average of 48 hours in each week. For example, in a 26 week period you should work no more than 1248 hours.
