If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a Delivery Team Leader to join our Wales Field Operations Team.
Job Description
Utilising your excellent interpersonal skills, you will provide leadership and line management to a multi-disciplinary team based in Llandrindod Wells or Caernarfon, with regular travel across Wales when required (expenses covered by Travel and Subsistence).
As the Delivery Team Leader (DTL), you will be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient deployment of resources to meet delivery requirements, while also being accountable for achieving all expected delivery targets. You will work closely with technical advisors to develop and assure high performance of team members.
This is a varied role, and you will have the flexibility to turn your hand to different tasks as the situation demands. The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Leading a team of technical advisors to prevent the introduction of notifiable diseases and invasive species, safeguard animal welfare, and facilitate international trade.
* Prioritising resources and workloads across teams to maintain a quality service and delivery regulatory activities.
* Be accountable for maintaining collaborative relationships with Operational Partners and other Stakeholders.
* Be accountable for maintaining collaborative relationships with key teams within the Defra group family to help ensure regulatory activities are delivered correctly and consistently, and procedure and policy thinking is undertaken with understanding and evidence by our Operational teams.
* Providing leadership and direction to members of the delivery group, promoting collaboration and an emphasis on quality assurance and continuous improvement.
* Support and participate in out of hours management rota.
Please note: This role requires regular travel across Wales, expenses will be covered by a travel and subsistence allowance, including some travel to attend training and face-to-face meetings, which may include overnight stays.
Person specification
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following skills and experience:
* Proven organisational skills with an ability to manage multiple projects at once.
* Proficient in utilising Excel to generate high-quality management information, coupled with strong communication skills to effectively convey this information to diverse audiences.
* Essential line management experience, with the ability to provide examples of leadership and direction-setting for team members whilst cultivating collaboration.
* Ability to work flexibly, proactively support others and have resilience at times of challenge. You will need to prioritise work and operate at a fast pace both independently and as part of a team.

Workplace arrangements
The agreed amount of time spent at a workplace for this post will reflect the requirement for Civil Servants to spend at least 60% of their working time in an organisation workplace with the option to work the remaining time flexibly from home.

Salary
New entrants to the Civil Service are expected to start on the minimum of the pay band. The internal roles rules apply to existing Civil Servants, i.e. level transfers move on current salary or the pay range minimum, transfers on promotion move to new pay range minimum or receive 10% increase. Either case is determined by whichever is the highest.

Location
Please be aware that this role(s) will be contractually based in a Defra group workplace/office. The successful candidate is required to carry out all their duties from a UK location (excluding Northern Ireland) and cannot do so from an overseas location at any time.
For most candidates, your hours of work will be a blend of working from an APHA workplace (specific to the team location) with working at home.
