Joining our national urban drainage team means working with a multidisciplinary group serving various clients, including water companies on major projects, and developing innovative digital services.
Job Summary:
We are growing our Water business and are seeking wastewater modellers to join our Water and Wastewater Asset Planning Team in Derby. You will work with a team of specialists to deliver projects for clients like Water Companies, Local Authorities, and developers, potentially involving international projects. Our goal is to help clients adapt sustainably and innovatively, promoting nature-based solutions to reduce human impact and enhance urban environments.
The Asset Planning team handles projects related to water and wastewater, such as drainage improvements to prevent flooding and reduce storm overflows. This involves feasibility studies and computer modeling to support operational and environmental decisions.
This role includes working on feasibility studies, analysis, engineering design, site visits, and liaising with clients and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
* BSc/BEng/MEng in engineering, geography, GIS, science, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
* Proven experience in wastewater modeling with InfoWorks ICM.
* Experience with InfoWorks 2D/ICM, InfoNet/InfoAsset.
* GIS software skills: QGIS, MapInfo, or ArcGIS preferred.
* Understanding of the UK water industry.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Motivated to learn and develop professionally.
Responsibilities:
* Develop sewer system models to identify issues and propose solutions.
* Create 1D and 2D flood risk models.
* Analyze operational data and perform hydraulic root cause analysis.
* Support technical report writing and project deliverables.
* Conduct site asset surveys and assessments.
* Prepare health and safety risk assessments.
