The Queen Victoria Hospital Admissions and Discharge team pride ourselves on being part of a supportive multidisciplinary team with a long history of excellence.
A passionate approach to patient centred care is essential to managing our busy admissions and discharge areas. The applicant must be flexible, approachable, hard-working and able to use their own initiative and work under pressure. They must also possess excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills.
The admissions and discharge area is part of a complex dynamic perioperative suite managing a number of different specialities in major to minor reconstructive surgery.
If you are successfully appointed to this role and complete a 6-month probationary period, you will be eligible for a two stage New Starter Premium of £1500 in total. You will receive £500 on receipt of your probationary paperwork from your line manager and another £1000 on the one-year anniversary of your start date. This does not include Bank workers or previous employees within the past 12 months.
Main duties of the job
1. Offer a high standard of 1:1 care to our pre and post operative patients.
2. As a senior practitioner, take charge, support junior colleagues, and provide a safe, well-led service for patients and colleagues.
3. Exercise judgement in assessing wide-ranging patient problems and promote options for optimum patient care.
4. Maintain effective communication with all patients, carers, and members of the MDT.
5. Work unsupervised, in charge of the ward/clinic areas within Trust Guidelines.
6. Ensure accurate, contemporaneous and timely care records.
7. Support people in making better choices for their health and the health of their families.
8. Participate in and undertake surveys, audit, and research.
9. Undertake Professional Development Planning and clinical supervision with identified team members.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse or Registered ODP
* Previous experience in Day surgery/Admissions/Discharge
Knowledge
* An understanding of perioperative patient care
* Evidence of leadership skills/training
* Demonstrates a patient-centred approach
