Tax Assistant Your team: The News UK Tax Team comprises 7 individuals across Peterborough and London managing the tax affairs for our worldwide business. Your role: You will play a crucial role in supporting our Tax Team, gaining exposure to Corporation Tax, Employment Tax, and VAT compliance cycles. This unique opportunity to build a solid foundation in tax compliance and accounting skills in the media industry. Day to day you will: VAT: Collate and analyse data sources for UK and Irish VAT compliance. Prepare and file JV VAT returns for Octave and Newsprinters. Prepare overseas VAT returns for multiple jurisdictions, collaborating with Deloitte as needed. Clear VAT flags in Risk Centre and respond to business onboarding queries. Employment Tax: Collate PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA) computations. Manage monthly and quarterly PSA provisioning, including tax calculations and journal recharges. Assist with monthly IR35/Self Employment tax audits and liaise with relevant teams. Manage US entity onboarding of contributors/suppliers and ensure IRS forms are correct. Corporation Tax: Assist the Corporation Tax team during busy periods with data analysis and CT computation. Other Responsibilities: Support senior members of the tax team with ad-hoc tasks. Assist the Tax Analyst in day-to-day administration. Occasionally work in the London offices when required. Participate in the wider tax team weekly meetings. What we’re looking for from you: Desire to study AAT/ATT Basic understanding of Balance Sheet reconciliations A desire to build up a solid base of tax compliance and accounting skills Able to work on their own initiative with good interpersonal skills, as well as being able to take and understand instructions from management A high level of IT literacy in Microsoft Office packages We are News UK : One of the leading media businesses in the UK and Ireland.
