C & D Foods is one of Europe's leading Own Label Pet food manufacturers producing a range of Wet and Dry Pet foods. C & D Foods has 7 production facilities across 6 Countries (Ireland, Denmark, Austria, Spain, The Netherlands and the UK) and 2 sales offices (Germany and Italy). Our Driffield site it located in East Yorkshire, and is one of the major producers of dry Petfood for the business. We are seeking a skilled, proactive and skilled shift engineer to work in our Engineering department. Joining the C & D Foods Team gives each successful candidate the opportunity to grow within the company. The role offers full training, full PPE and unlimited spaces for development and progression. Reporting to the Engineering manager the shift engineers is to deliver the Asset Care plan & provide a World Class engineering support to the Site. Includes - assisting the engineering management team in complying with all H&S responsibilities, legal compliance, delivering efficiencies, continuous improvements, and maintenance management in respect of product streams, services, buildings, and all other ancillary equipment. Due to the complexity of our customer base, we are a highly audited site and therefore must be continually compliant with Customer Codes of Practice, Technical Policies and Standards in addition to maintaining our BRCGS Accreditation. Primary Objectives: 1. To work within all necessary EH&S legislation (e.g., LOLER, PUWER, PAT testing, Electricity works regulations, COSHH, PTW etc.) and to proactively contribute to raising the standards across the site. Additionally, be fully conversant with company safe systems of work, operating within agreed safe working practices in line with statutory and company requirements. 2. To manage external contractors issuing work permits where appropriate. 3. Attend and investigate fire/gas alarm activations and faults. 4. To attend to any breakdowns or emergencies that may arise with a bias to action approach & a '100 year fix' mentality. 5. To commit to improving on their basic skills, to achieve the flexibility required to support all best practice maintenance on site. 6. Identification of CI opportunities. 7. Identify and implement opportunities for efficiency and process improvements. 8. Proactively manage own time, including prioritization of workload, working without direct supervision, and making sound decisions based on the needs of the business. 9. Provide practical technical knowledge to the Site, including providing training, motivation, coaching and guidance as required. 10. Work closely with product stream members to maximize quality, customer satisfaction and product stream profitability. This includes a 'customer facing' approach with a commitment to communicate effectively and build strong partnerships with all stakeholders. 11. Contribute and assist in the management of the site CMMS system, including reviews, scheduling, and PM content, to drive a high quality, low cost department. 12. A flexible approach, to be available to cover any shift as part of current or any future rotational cover system. This includes weekend work, cover for shortages on shift etc. 13. Collate and record accurate details of daily shift activity to optimize the CMMS system. 14. Area of accountability includes, but not limited to: Production, packaging, distribution, services, facilities, Offices & external areas. 15. To comply with good manufacturing practices and the Food Safety Act 1990. 16. To comply with stores withdrawal procedures, to ensure tight cost controls.
