Job Overview
We are seeking a full-time Consultant Psychiatrist to cover 17 beds in our Acute service, covering 2 wards in one of our Private Hospitals.
The role will involve working with male and female patients. You will fulfil the role of Responsible Clinician to patients from admission to discharge with the support of a skilled and motivated MDT.
You will be part of a well-established and cohesive team of medics which includes: Medical Director, Consultant Psychiatrist, Speciality Doctors, Registered Medical Officers, and University Medical Students.
There is an opportunity to network with other Consultants from different specialisms and service lines.
About the role
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will play a pivotal role within the hospital's Multi-Disciplinary Team, which consists of other professionals such as Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists, Occupational Therapists (OT), OT Assistants, Registered Nurses, Student Nurses/Apprentices, Health Care Assistants, Pharmacists, and Independent Mental Health Advocates.
The hospital works closely with NHS partners to ensure that patients safely transition from our Acute Services back into the community, with robust follow-up support packages.
The acute wards on site provide patients with excellent space and facilities, including en-suite bedrooms and large living spaces furnished with activity equipment such as games consoles.
Outside of the wards, a purpose-built therapy suite contains a rehabilitation kitchen for patient cooking sessions, and a sessional therapy room. The hospital is set in the centre of an extensive nature reserve, which contains an abundance of flora and fauna. The site also has areas for outside sports activity.
The clinical team encourages full involvement of the service user, their family, and external professionals throughout their stay. They are invited to attend Ward Reviews and CPA meetings to ensure clear communication throughout the care pathway in order to promote individuals' recovery and facilitate discharge.
To maximise recovery, interventions offered include a wide range of therapeutic approaches, combining psychiatric and cognitive behavioural perspectives with occupational therapy, psychology, leisure, and recreational activities.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience of working in inpatient settings with people with significant mental health difficulties.
* Ideally, experience at Consultant level within the NHS, including the ability to conduct training (not essential).
* Must hold a CCST/CCT or equivalent in the relevant areas of psychiatry.
* Must continue to hold registration with the GMC, including being on the special register for Psychiatry.
