Overview: We are currently working with a UK-based company who specialize in the development and installation of commercial renewable energy systems. With over 40 years of experience, they offer bespoke solutions to help businesses reduce carbon emissions and energy costs. Due to increased growth, they are seeking a Project Manager to join their facility in Leeds. This role will be their primary designer at the site and will play an important role in achieving a zero-carbon future.
About the Role: The role will report to the CEO. The Project Manager has the responsibility and ownership of overseeing the installation and delivery of commercial and residential renewable energy system installations, including EV charging and solar PV systems, ranging in complexity, scale, and value. This position would suit someone with an electrical bias and relevant experience working within commercial Solar PV, Energy Efficiency, and an operational/project management role. Electrical contracting experience will be well regarded, as well as an HSE qualification (SMSTS, IOSH). Problem-solving needs to be something you enjoy and are good at. A strong drive to deliver on time, on budget, and on quality is essential.
Duties & Responsibilities: As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for:
1. Liaising with suppliers, site staff, and installation teams.
2. Solar PV / Electrical contracting installations - average of 1MW rooftop and 5MW ground-mounted.
3. Planning and scheduling installation & maintenance works.
4. Ensuring material and contractual delivery are achieved on time.
5. Attending site pre-installation technical and costing surveys.
6. Specification and procurement of materials and equipment.
7. Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), observance of CDM regulations.
8. Record keeping on the company's CRM and Project information systems.
9. Ensuring Health & Safety procedures are up to date and installation teams are regularly briefed through toolbox talks.
10. Maintaining documentation accurately and updating QMS.
11. Developing good working relationships with clients, consultants, sub-contractors, and suppliers.
12. Other duties as required.
Requirements: To be considered for this position, you should have relevant experience working in the commercial Solar PV and Energy Efficiency industry within an operational/project management role. Electrical contracting experience, or a degree in electrical engineering or renewable engineering will be well regarded, as will an HSE qualification. You should be a confident communicator with strong IT skills and have a full UK driving license. You will thrive in a busy work environment, enjoy working collaboratively, and be proficient in multitasking.
Previous experience delivering roof-mounted and ground-mounted Solar PV projects is required, along with battery storage modeling experience and HV/LV connection knowledge (ideally with DNO background). Engineering technical excellence and pride in work/project outcomes are essential. Strong Project Management skills are necessary to ensure optimal design and costs on all projects. A minimum of 3 years' experience managing commercial-scale solar PV projects and teams, in addition to managing UK DNO G99 & G100 requirements and conditions, is also required. Ability to interpret PV and electrical designs is essential.
