Team members are appointed as deputy for a large number of Court of Protection clients who have recoveredsubstantial damages as a result of personal injury or clinical negligence claims. This area of our work is continuously growing as the team successfully recover compensation and with instructions from other personal injury firms. We now wish to expand our Court of Protection expertise further, particularly in the South, and recruit leaders and qualified lawyers who share our passion for Changing Lives.
The Roles and Key Responsibilities:
We are now recruiting for lawyers to join our growing court of protection teams in various locations including Kings Hill and Brighton.
We are looking for a leader at partner level with experience of acting as a deputy / Trust Corporation Director managing the property and affairs for clients who have received damages as a result of brain injury. This is an exciting opportunity to join an existing and thriving team and to be a leading part of its future development.
We do not wish to be too prescriptive but anticipate that the role will involve –
* Acting as Deputy / Director of the Trust Corporation and liaising with other Directors and team members to provide support to clients
* Liaising with the wider CL Medilaw team members to provide deputyship advice in litigation matters to them and their clients
* Working with other team members to develop and expand the Court of Protection and Trustee services for personal injury clients
* Advising and developing other members of the court of protection team.
We are also looking for team members from newly qualified to those with experience of Court of Protection work for clients with personal injury damages awards.
The variety of tasks involved in this role include:
* Supporting court of protection deputies and directors with managing clients finances
* Drafting and making applications to the Court of Protection
* Preparing financial information for client and financial review meetings
* Liaising with financial advisors
* Liaising with case managers and care providers
* Preparing annual deputyship reports
* Preparing budgets and care calculations
* Working with others in the team to maintain organised files and record keeping
* Communicating with and meeting clients and their families
Required Skills and experience
* Legal experience in Court of Protection work
* Ability to work as part of a team as well as using initiative
* Drive to provide a supportive and responsive service to clients and their families
* A methodical and thorough approach to work is essential as well as being able to maintain organisation, follow appropriate procedures and keep to deadlines.
* Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
* Flexible approach to work to adapt to team and client needs
