The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Manager in one of our Family Support and Safeguarding teams within North Somerset.
Our Family Support and Safeguarding Teams are established teams of senior social workers, social workers and family support workers who, together, provide valuable, effective and targeted social work assessment, interventions and support to achieve change and positive outcomes for children and young people. You will line manage approx. 6 social workers, caseloads are low, with the average being 16 children per social worker. We seek applicants who can deliver excellent support with a clear focus on creative support and focus on keeping children with their families.
We are looking to offer an opportunity to a suitably experienced team manager or aspirant manager who is passionate about safeguarding and confident in managing and developing performance with a strong focus on collaborative Quality Assurance activities. Leadership is critical to support our restorative Practice Model of Building Connections, managers as a critical driver of leading and developing practice. Those interested will show leadership qualities that also promote value based practice that is strengths based and relational. The post holder will be responsible for carrying out the day-to-day management of family support and safeguarding which includes assessment and support for children in need, child protection, pre-proceedings, care proceedings and adoption work. You will be social work qualified, have experiences of supervising and leading practitioners, enthusiastic, ambitious and knowledgeable and able to take a key role in planning and improving services.
There are 6 Family Support and Safeguarding Teams and you will have the support of an effective team of established, experienced managers who work together to provide high quality safeguarding and support across the North Somerset.
This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.
About You
You will be responsible for the practice standards across the team, providing effective management and leadership to ensure that the service provided to children, young people and their families is of the highest quality. You will also be required to cover colleagues leave and or sickness.
