Job description
Salary: £48,557 - £57,704, dependent on experience and including a basic salary and skills payment. Plus, you'll receive a one-off recruitment bonus of £3,500 (£1,750 on arrival and £1,750 on successful completion of probation). There's also the option to qualify for an increased skills payment of up to £19,113 once in-post, following a successful skills assessment.

The Role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in solving mission-critical problems. You'll contribute to system architecture and design, establish best practices, and deliver high-quality software products. Your knowledge of software engineering methodologies will help bring innovative ideas that impact our mission to keep the UK safe both offline and online.
This role offers opportunities for development, including reviewing pull requests, defining deployment strategies, and working with various frameworks. You will operate at a deep technical level, leveraging languages such as JavaScript, Java, C++, Node, Python, Rust, Go, and .NET.
You will also share your expertise, lead or mentor teams, and engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, influencing the wider engineering community.
About You
You bring experience with modern software languages and frameworks such as C++, Golang, Java, JavaScript, .NET, Node, Python, Rust, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). You have led Agile projects and can evaluate customer requirements. Self-motivated and strategic, you communicate technical information clearly and confidently.
We welcome professionals from related fields like software and cloud engineering, security, UX, SRE, front-end design, solution architecture, data engineering, or MLOps. You thrive in environments requiring creativity and innovation, and you are committed to establishing best practices, mentoring colleagues, and staying updated on emerging technologies.
