We are pleased to be able to offer exciting opportunities for conscientious, hard-working, caring individuals to join our MRI team as an Imaging Assistant.
We currently have 2 MRI scanners at the West Suffolk site and are delighted to announce the opening of our Newmarket CDC where we are installing an additional MRI scanner. This is due to open in Autumn 2024. We will provide MRI scanning services to the local community between the hours of 8am-8pm. We are looking for additional staff to support this service at the Newmarket CDC, as well as to support staff at the West Suffolk Hospital. We would be happy to consider part-time and full-time applicants.
We are looking for individuals who are keen to learn and enjoy working with people. You need excellent communication skills, to demonstrate initiative as well as care and empathy towards our often-anxious patients. Your role will be key to efficient service delivery and patient experience. Wellbeing is a priority for our staff and staff are highly valued across the team.
Imaging assistants will have a varied role within the team from delivering personal care needs to clerical and administrative duties. We are therefore looking for individuals who are enthusiastic and motivated learners and have a genuine interest in working in a rewarding healthcare role in a busy and fast-paced team environment. The MRI team is a very friendly team, and we look forward to welcoming successful candidates.
Main duties of the job
Imaging assistants will be responsible for providing a range of personal care needs to patients and for carrying out a range of clinical duties under the direction and supervision of a registered healthcare professional.
Such tasks may include:
1. Assisting radiographers working in the clinical area.
2. Welcoming patients and preparing them for their scans. This will include performing the initial MRI safety checks with the patients.
3. Preparing the scanner, organization, cleaning, and preparation of equipment.
4. Supporting patients before, during, and after their scans making a positive difference to their experience in the MRI department.
5. Stock control.
6. Administrative and clerical roles associated with our various IT systems such as eCare and CRIS.
The Trust offers an induction programme to help you achieve your care certificate which you will be required to complete to fulfil this role, and we will endeavour to help support and develop individuals' knowledge and skills in this exciting and challenging role.
In addition, the MRI environment can pose significant challenges due to the safety considerations associated with magnetic fields. Individuals must be prepared to learn about and understand all aspects of safety associated with MRI to ensure that we keep the safety of patients and staff at the forefront of what we do.
