Engineering Manager – Responsibilities: Spearheading a team of Database Administrators, guiding their development and performance. Creating and enforcing best practices for database management, covering everything from performance optimisation and security to disaster recovery. Managing the full spectrum of database operations—installations, migrations, patches, and upgrades—ensuring smooth and efficient processes. Taking a proactive approach to database performance, swiftly identifying and resolving potential issues. Working in close partnership with development, architecture, and service teams to ensure seamless integrations and smooth database deployments. Playing an active role in resource planning and capacity management for the DBA team. Ensuring database systems are robust, highly available, and have strong disaster recovery strategies. Staying ahead of the curve with emerging technologies and continuously improving internal processes and team skills. Offering consultancy for broader platform initiatives, including a new real-time BI platform. What’s needed: Proven leadership experience managing teams in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment. Exposure to the betting industry and an understanding of legislations Strong background in database administration, including performance tuning, clustering, replication, and security. Hands-on DBA experience with MySQL, MariaDB, or Oracle in an operational setting. The ability to simplify complex technical topics for various audiences. A track record of successful collaboration with cross-functional teams, such as developers and architects. Ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects at once.
