Finegreen are currently supporting a large ICB in the appointment of a senior clinical professional, to undertake the role of Senior CHC Appeals Nurse.
This is an interim appointment for 3 months+ and you will have extensive experience within Continuing Healthcare, specifically around the Appeals process.
You will need to utilise your clinical skills and expertise within Continuing Healthcare to undertake this role. You will use your knowledge and clinical skills to ensure that outcomes are determined in a consistent manner to ensure effective application and interpretation of the National Framework for NHS Continuing Health Care and NHS Funded Nursing Care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Work as part of the CHC Appeals Team and will be responsible for providing clinical expertise on reviewing both previously unassessed (PUPOC) and assessed periods of care;
2. Review CHC appeals and CHC PUPOC requests to ensure that the NHS Continuing Healthcare processes have been followed;
3. The post holder will be expected to communicate with Appellants and produce comprehensive reports identifying a patient's journey throughout the period of review;
4. Expected to have experience in Continuing Health Care and high-level communication skills to Chair local resolution meetings with claimants and their representatives;
5. Ensure patient/families/representatives are supported and aware of the appeal process followed by the ICB in relation to CHC;
6. Working within the remit of the National Framework for Continuing Healthcare and PUPoC Guidance;
7. Deliver an effective and competent level of service and consistently deliver a client-focused service;
8. Work autonomously in managing a caseload of patients as directed and to accept case coordinator responsibilities;
9. Contribute to the panel as a member or present cases to panel as appropriate, will make clinical and evidence based decisions;
10. Expertly undertake PUPOC assessments of patient eligibility of Continuing Healthcare;
11. The post holder will require excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with patients, their families and other professionals;
Successful candidate will have:
1. Current registration to the NMC as a nursing professional;
2. Expert clinical judgment to analyse, review and prepare PUPOC and or appeal cases regarding eligibility for NHS Continuing Healthcare funding;
3. Extensive working experience within the Appeals area of Continuing Healthcare;
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with patients, their families and other professionals.
