Position Title: NPD/NPI Quality Engineer
Reports to: Quality Manager
Position Summary: The NPD/NPI Quality Engineer is responsible for the lifecycle of NPD/NPI projects from a quality perspective, ensuring the introduction of new products meets quality requirements and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Represent quality in NPD/NPI projects.
2. Review proposed projects and complete the risk register.
3. Define the test plan and pass/fail parameters with engineering.
4. Develop the DFMEA with engineering lead.
5. Participate in prototype/design reviews and log quality concerns.
6. Follow up on DFMEA/Risk register/design review log register.
7. Participate in PFMEA in the factory.
8. Complete the quality register for project phases.
9. Support supplier quality team in PPAPs and supplier development.
10. Influence decisions based on facts.
11. Sort/interpret data to reach conclusions (Six Sigma – Minitab).
12. Innovate solutions for quality-related challenges in NPD processes.
Candidate Experience and Qualification:
1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality or related discipline preferred, or equivalent experience (5+ years in manufacturing).
2. Familiarity with test methods and validation techniques.
3. Knowledge of risk assessment tools like FMEA and fault tree analysis.
4. Knowledge of design for manufacturability and assembly principles.
5. Understanding of the product development lifecycle.
6. Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
7. Strong skills in statistical tools (control charts, histograms, capability indices).
8. Organization, time management, and prioritization skills.
Additional Attributes:
1. Experience managing supplier relationships and conducting audits.
2. Problem-solving skills using methodologies like 8D, Five Whys, and RCCA.
