Pipe Fitter
Location: Based in Irlam, Manchester with travel internationally.
The Pipe Fitter will be responsible for the installation of refrigeration and chilled water pipework on Azenta Automated Storage Systems. The Pipe Fitter will work alongside Installation Engineers to ensure these are installed to the program of works timeline.
1. Install, Armaflex, and pressure test refrigeration pipework.
2. Install and leak test chilled water pipework from the customer's chilled water system.
3. Install all hardware to carry and clip the pipework to a high specification.
Management:
The Pipe Fitter acts as a representative of the company in all situations, e.g., when dealing with clients and staff, and is expected to conduct him/herself professionally and lead by example. The Pipe Fitter will have a good awareness of relevant QA and Health & Safety issues.
Authority:
Must be proactive in managing their time, juggling workload and priorities in conjunction with their line manager. Hold a varied scope of tasks and normally must deal with several tasks simultaneously. Responsible for organizing his own day, which varies in specific tasks depending upon client requirements. Makes independent decisions on a daily basis, prioritizing his own workload. These decisions are not reviewed as a matter of course; however, management guidance is available and sought as necessary. Use their experience in deciding when additional assistance is required, e.g., when the assistance of the refrigeration design team is needed for any mistakes highlighted.
Communications:
The Candidate will communicate internally with staff at all levels, particularly Project Managers, and occasionally directly with refrigeration design, refrigeration commissioning engineers, and installation manager. On site, the Candidate will liaise with the appropriate Installation team leader. Much of the communication required is face-to-face with clients; consequently, the Candidate must be able to deal with people and situations in a tactful, diplomatic, and confidential manner. The position will require a full understanding of refrigeration pipework and the ability to troubleshoot design and recommend changes before installation.
What You'll Need
1. Qualified to a minimum of BESA City and Guilds qualification.
2. Minimum of five years installation knowledge.
3. Ability to read pipe isometrics and understand INTF drawings.
4. Good PC skills, including report writing and use of spreadsheets.
5. Ability to demonstrate excellent Armaflexing skills.
6. The Candidate must be able to work under pressure on a customer site, often in a foreign country.
7. F-Gas training is not a must and can be given to the correct candidate.
Relevant Information:
Maintains a smart appearance in line with company policy. The Candidate is required to hold a valid driving license and passport to undertake duties on site throughout the UK and overseas. The Candidate will undertake any other duties as and when requested by line management.
