An exciting short term opportunity has arisen for a Work Package Leader (WPL) to join the Inerting & Fuel Sciences team, from February to September 2025. The WPL for Fuel and Additives is a unique role where the successful candidate will coordinate and give direction to our motivated team of fuel scientists. Your role will focus on the management of fuels and fuel additives for conventional kerosene aircraft. These are changing regularly and it is the responsibility of the Fuel Sciences team to assess and approve changes to enable continued operation of our aircraft in service. You will need to coordinate and support the project management of the planned tasks, and manage new work requested from the team. This includes scoping of work, involving the team in the definition, assessing budget needs, and ensuring work is delivered on time. A key responsibility of this WPL role is to coordinate with other stakeholders, our work is transverse and can often only be completed with the support and input of other teams and companies so you will need to be a confident communicator to engage and influence others. Responsibilities You will lead the fuel and additive clearance activities in Airbus and will be accountable for: Building and driving internal planning to introduce new fuels & additives to the full Airbus Family of aircraft Developing a shared vision for the future of fuel and additive development activities in collaboration with the Future Fuels Leader Providing functional support to the fuel properties team to prioritise workload and communicate schedule and spend progress. Stepping back from the detail of clearance activities to provide clear, simple progress statements to internal customers and stakeholders Acting as a focal point for new work requests into the fuel properties team and commitments coming from external regulatory bodies and working groups. Estimating cost and lead times working in collaboration with the Group Leader to meet resource and deliverable requests from programme Championing the activities of Fuel Sciences in Airbus to ensure aligned and supportive stakeholders Skill Set Essential Degree, or equivalent in engineering or with a chemistry specialism Strong experience working with transnational teams and across contractual boundaries with customers and suppliers, in a project management context A proven track record of leadership and successful delivery Ability to drive work in Agile or traditional project management approaches Ability to manage complex technical information and communicate concisely with stakeholders on progress, risks and opportunities Strong written and oral communication with people at varying seniority levels A willingness to learn about the activities of the team and to build an understanding of their technical topics Team working with a proven track record for working with others in an open, collaborative style An ability to simplify complex technical information and provide key messages to stakeholders Desirable A knowledge of fuel properties, fuel systems and sustainability initiatives ADZN1_UKTJ
