Health and Safety Officer
Location: Birmingham

CSS Recruitment and Training is seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Officer in Birmingham.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide HSE advice and support to Managers, supervisors, and colleagues regarding the entire company workforce, subcontracted labour, other site workers and members of the public.
2. Develop a strong working relationship with all levels of employees and promote a culture of engagement and continual improvement.
3. Create safe systems of work RAMS etc and ensure these are being effectively applied.
4. Complete HSE Site Inspections.
5. Complete incident investigations and identify and implement improvement measures.
6. Become aware of the functions of other members of staff in the department as they affect your work.
7. Attend necessary meetings as required.
8. Undertake assigned work in a professional and efficient way, in compliance with current HSE legislation, regulatory requirements and the company's Integrated Management Systems.
9. Communicate in a professional, helpful and non-prejudicial manner in all dealings with clients and customers, representing your department and the Company accordingly.
10. Behave in a professional manner and cooperate with all other members of staff.
11. Deliver regular toolbox talks.
12. Review and record First Aid and spill kit provision across all sites.
13. Maintain high standards of work within your department.
14. Any other duties deemed necessary by management.
Requirements:
1. NEBOSH Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
2. Proven HSE experience for a minimum of 5 years.
3. Experience of working in New Build and M&E construction environments.
4. Experience of undertaking health and safety audits.
5. Experience of lifting operations and associated hazards.
6. Experience of creating RAMS for complex works.
7. Knowledge of health and safety aspects, including legislation and technical standards.
8. Accident and incident investigation experience.
9. Excellent attention to detail, organisational, planning and communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to deal with clients & internal staff.
10. Ability to influence change and challenge those who flaunt H&S rules and guidance.
11. Ability to work under pressure and on own initiatives to achieve self and team targets.
12. Ability to proactively deal with employees at all levels across the company to come up with solutions.
13. Proficient in Microsoft Office Packages (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
14. Ability to travel to other sites across the UK.
15. Full UK Driving license.
