The AMU support worker is pivotal in supporting the flow on AMU. Main duties include transferring patients to receiving wards, clear communication with staff, ensuring the ward is topped up with essential equipment, having a good understanding of manual handling procedures and respecting the privacy and dignity of the patients at all times. Main duties, tasks & skills required Transferring patient to the receiving medical wards. Clean trolleys/ beds following transfers and change linen ready for the next patient. Restock IV trolleys, resuscitation trolley and dressing trolleys in clinical areas as necessary. Check portal oxygen cylinders daily and request / change new cylinders when empty. Restock the clean utility room, using clinical stock from central store on AMU. Under the direction and supervision of a senior nurse, check the electrical equipment is on charge. Ensure ward is kept tidy by removing rubbish and clutter as required.
