Location: Port of Nigg, Scotland - Onsite position
Role: HSE focal point for all project related Health, Safety & Environmental activities.
Reporting to: Project Director
Responsibilities
1. Be HSE focal point for all project health, safety, and environmental activities.
2. Work with Project Manager / Construction Managers to ensure HSSE attendance at key project meetings.
3. Liaise regularly with client HSE Representatives and satisfy HSE requirements.
4. Support the Project Manager / Construction Managers with appropriate incident investigation, keeping records of incidents and accidents, and producing statistics for managers.
5. Actively support and input to the site PTW system.
6. Actively support the site access control system and personal accountancy control on site.
7. Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements.
8. Manage Corrective & Preventative Actions to effective closure and monitor thereafter.
9. Drive HSSE excellence throughout the project to provide a safe and HSSE compliant workplace.
10. Undertake worksite inspections at the worksite and provide feedback on observations.
11. Attend daily shift briefings and monitor their effectiveness.
12. Actively support the online induction process.
13. Carry out on-site inductions if required.
14. Carry out internal HSE training as required.
15. Assist in the investigation of incidents and near misses, in liaison with clients to ensure root causes are identified and lessons learnt are shared to improve HSSE performance.
16. Assist and advise Project Managers and Supervisors in the production of risk assessments.
17. Support in the review of all necessary Method Statements and Risk Assessments associated with the entire work scopes ensuring all activities have been risk assessed.
18. Actively encourage the project workforce to become involved in the project safety culture and health and safety initiatives.
19. Understand and promote Europlan and SEI HSSE culture throughout all phases of the modification scope, setting a positive personal example.
20. Promote the culture of personal accountability, where safe behaviors are reinforced and unsafe challenged.
21. Assist in the development of an environment where personnel are empowered to stop any work that they perceive to be unsafe.
Planning and Reporting
1. Support processes to improve proactive reporting and analysis.
2. Monitor and report on project performance on site against Europlan and SEI KPIs and Project HSSE KPIs.
3. Report all incidents and near misses and all action taken.
4. Monitor and report on project performance on site against Project HSE KPIs.
Skills Required
1. Formal training in Environmental Management preferred.
2. Industry experience with trade background preferred.
3. Experience of developing and implementing HSE management systems.
4. Full conversant on developing risk assessments (General / COSHH / Fire / Unplanned Events).
5. Good interpersonal skills.
6. Presenting and developing training / inductions.
7. Computer literate with Microsoft Office systems.
8. Ability to produce and present reports and statistical HSE information.
