Job overview
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, self-motivated candidate with excellent leadership and team working skills and the vision and determination to drive continued development of innovative, enthusiastic, and highly effective Podiatry services.
This is a busy and varied role, one which requires the post holder to have a flexible approach to their working duties, to coordinate administrative and clinical services to the Podiatry team based in Barnet.
You will have had experience in a clinical role with some management responsibilities and will be required to line manage staff. You will be able to lead and participate in service development, to identify the need for new practice and determine methods of implementing change.
Main duties of the job
* The successful candidate must have excellent communication and inter-personal/negotiation skills, be able to prioritize and have the ability to work under pressure.
* To undertake appraisals/personal development review 1-1’s with team members and support staff in achieving their/organizational goals.
* This is a Permanent Contract to replace a staff vacancy. The post will be based within the Podiatry Department, Barnet CLCH.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* To provide high-quality care to a diverse range of podiatry patients in a wide variety of settings. To assess, diagnose, treat, plan and manage the podiatric (lower limb and foot care) needs of the local and transient populations in a wide variety of settings, in order to maintain patient mobility and independence.
* To work in collaboration with a team of Podiatrists and other care providers to ensure seamless care delivery for all patients and where appropriate to liaise with and refer and work under direction on Band 6.

Person specification
Qualifications
* BSc Degree In Podiatric Medicine or Diploma (if qualified prior to 1991).
* Registration with the Health Professions Council.
* Certificate in local anaesthesia.
Experience
* Experience of multidisciplinary and interagency working.
* Experience of working with a wide range of patient and disease/pathology types including the at-risk and high-risk foot.
* Experience of clinical supervision/mentoring.
* Experience of service development.
Skills & Knowledge
* Knowledge of recent developments in the profession.
* Knowledge of podiatric theory and practice.
* Knowledge of SOCAP code of conduct.
* Awareness of Equal Opportunities – theory and practice.
* Understanding of Clinical Governance - theory.
* Up-to-date knowledge of clinical issues and treatment development.
* Effective oral, listening and written communication in order to negotiate and persuade patients and carers gaining compliance and commitment to their treatment and care plans.
* Ability to evaluate and analyse patients' concerns and needs and propose effective solutions.
* Ability to undertake intricate work in using sensitive diagnostic tools and a range of surgical instruments, e.g., in the management and debridement of poor tissue viability wounds and nail surgery.
* Organisational and planning skills to manage your own work time.
* Experience of delivering health education.
* Knowledge of audit.
* IT Skills including use of Internet, e-mail, Word Processing.
