Integrated Pathology Solutions LLP is an innovative joint-venture pathology service between Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. This partnership delivers a high-quality pathology service through collaboration between three Trusts for the benefit of patients and service users.
Position Overview
The Department of Histopathology is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, well-motivated individual to join the team as a Trainee Band 5. The individual should be able to demonstrate that they are working towards becoming a Biomedical Scientist with a particular interest in Histopathology.
Qualifications
1. Successfully completed an IBMS accredited degree and provide evidence of working on the IBMS Registration Portfolio, or
2. Participating in a relevant Degree Program which provides opportunity for completing the portfolio.
Responsibilities
1. Discuss experience and knowledge of recent participation in a functioning NHS Histology Laboratory.
2. Rotate to both Airedale and Bradford Laboratories to gain a variety of experiences and competencies.
3. Work in various areas of the Histopathology Department under the direction of the Section Leader, providing an efficient, safe, and high-quality technical service.
4. Provide technical advice to clinical staff.
5. Work as part of the Pathology team providing mutual support, ensuring work is completed and that equipment is maintained appropriately.
6. Liaise with service engineers to resolve complex issues.
7. Liaise with other health care professionals and agencies to provide advice.
8. Undertake and comply with all departmental standard operating procedures and quality standards regarding work selection and methods.
Accreditation
The Department of Histology is ISO15189:2012 accredited and is a recognised IBMS training laboratory.
