Job summary We have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Ward Leader to join our dedicated team on Ward 23This dynamic 23-bedded unit provides exceptional coronary care to patients with a variety of Acute Coronary Syndromes, including arrhythmias, heart failure, and other cardiac-related diagnoses. The ward takes direct patient admissions from both A&E and the Cardiac Catheter Suite, offering you a unique opportunity to enhance your clinical expertise by caring for patients pre and post angiography, angioplasty, and following the implantation of cardiac devices. As the Deputy Ward Leader, you will support the Ward Leader in delivering high-quality patient care while overseeing a designated group of patients during their care episodes. You will play a vital role in maintaining high standards of care and will be expected to take charge of the ward regularly, acting as a role model for your team. Main duties of the job Act as Deputy to the Ward Leader/Charge Nurse, taking charge of the ward and ensuring that care standards and the overall environment meet high-quality expectations. Provide leadership, ensuring patient care is safe, efficient, and of the highest standard. Regularly provide direct clinical care, demonstrating expert nursing practice and supporting both clinical and non-clinical governance. Work collaboratively with the Ward Sister and team, ensuring that standards are maintained, evaluated, and continuously improved. Mentor and support junior staff, helping develop their clinical skills and experience. Incorporate evidence-based practice into patient care to enhance outcomes and promote best practices.
