GSL Education are looking for a SEN Support Worker to join a warm and inclusive school in Weymouth. This is an incredible opportunity for someone who thrives in a supportive role, helping students with additional needs to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
Role Overview
As a SEN Support Worker, you will provide tailored assistance to students with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and speech and language difficulties. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to create a nurturing and engaging learning environment where every child can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students with special educational needs.
* Assist students with classroom activities, ensuring they feel included and supported.
* Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
* Foster positive relationships with students, building their confidence and independence.
* Support students in managing emotions, communication, and social interactions.
* Assist with sensory regulation, mobility needs, and personal care (if required).
* Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and external support services.
* Maintain accurate records of students’ progress and contribute to assessments.
Ideal Candidate:
We are seeking an individual who is caring, adaptable, and committed to making a real difference in students’ lives. The ideal candidate will have:
* Experience working with children or young people with SEN (desirable but not essential).
* A strong understanding of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities.
* Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude towards supporting students’ individual needs.
* Excellent communication skills to build relationships with students, staff, and parents.
* A relevant qualification in SEN, Teaching Support, or Health & Social Care (desirable but not essential).
* A genuine passion for supporting children with additional learning needs.
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
* Have the right to work in the UK.
* Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.
* Have an Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
