Hours: 43 hours per week, including Saturdays, with the exact start date and finish times to be agreed with the Director of Sport.
Salary: £20,406.17 per annum pro-rata inclusive of holiday pay (£27,055.60 FTE). Please note this salary will be reviewed in line with the National Minimum Wage requirements from April 2025.
Contract: Fixed Term Contract from September 2025 for 1 year or 2 years.
St George’s College requires a Graduate Sports Assistant for either a one or two year post commencing in September 2025. This position would suit candidates who are considering a career in the teaching profession and would provide excellent work experience. We are looking for dynamic, energetic and highly motivated individuals who would like to be part of a vibrant and inspirational department. Candidates should ideally be able to coach to a high level in at least two of the College sports and will be asked to coach and officiate within a range of sports across the year. Experience in playing or coaching Netball, Rugby, Hockey, Cricket, Tennis or Rowing to a high level would be an advantage.
St George’s College has excellent sports facilities on site, including a state of the art Activity Centre (Sports Hall, Studio, S&C Gym & Dance Studio), 5 outdoor netball courts, 2 floodlit astro turfs, a brand new 8 lane cricket net facility, multiple rugby and cricket pitches, an athletics track and an indoor tennis centre plus over 20 outdoor courts. Offsite we have a Boat House situated on the River Thames.
The PE Department stresses all aspects of good practice in physical education and are passionate about developing sport at the College. We have a reputation for achieving excellence in all of our main sports; our teams compete at a National Level and students regularly represent their County, Region and Country. Expectations are high and the College is very proud of its sporting traditions.
Once appointed, there will be an induction programme in place to support the role; areas covered include coach education, teaching pedagogy, parent communication and department protocols and policies. The Graduate Sports Assistant will have the opportunity to take part in the school appraisal process.
