IN SHORT
MK College Group have an exciting opportunity for a Maths Lecturer to join the prison-based Education Team at HMP Frankland.
As a Maths Lecturer/Tutor, you will be actively engaging prison-based learners with creative classes and resources. Many of the learners have a diverse range of needs and learning abilities, often having had a negative experience with education. As a successful Maths Tutor, you will inspire them and provide learners with a positive learning experience.
This role may involve outreach work outside of the main classroom setting. You will connect with learners in a professional manner, supporting them with their learning, enabling them to achieve success through qualifications and developing the confidence and softer skills that they can apply to employment upon release as well as in other areas of education within the prison.
We seek an individual who can communicate well with learners to inspire and motivate them. The average class consists of 8 learners, and the sessions are approximately 3 hours long. Your lessons will need to be adaptable, innovative, and imaginative.
No previous teaching experience? Don’t let this put you off… If you are a passionate person with the capacity to become a great teacher, we can provide the training to help you achieve your full potential, just as we expect you to help our learners achieve theirs.
MK College will treat all applicants fairly and with respect, irrespective of their background, disability, or any other individual characteristic. We particularly encourage applications from people with backgrounds that are currently under-represented within Milton Keynes College. All offers made to successful candidates are subject to satisfactory outcomes to a range of pre-employment checks including a Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS). In addition, security clearance is required for all prison services positions up to Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) level.
