Job overview
Rainbow ward is a busy, fast-paced, acute Paediatric ward. We are looking to recruit a full-time Health Care Assistant with experience in the hospital setting with the potential possibility of developing to a Band 3 HCA on completion of training.
Main duties of the job
The Healthcare Assistant will work as part of the ward team with supervision of registered practitioners to provide effective, safe patient-focused care at all times.
* Contribute to the development of the care environment with a positive, professional attitude.
* Contribute to the maintenance of daily provision of service and care to meet the individual needs of patients and department.
* Support the smooth running of the ward and ensure patients, relatives and carers are dealt with in a friendly and efficient manner.
* Ensure that policies and guidelines are adhered to.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
As a health care assistant, you play a vital role in delivering high standards of care to our patients and families. You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure all patients are cared for and treated with dignity and respect. Your duties will include:
* Assisting patients with personal hygiene
* Assisting patients during meal times
* Talking and listening to patients
* Working in partnership with patients, carers, and the wider team
This is a demanding and challenging role; you will need to be compassionate, caring, highly motivated, enthusiastic, well-organised, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Effective communication skills are essential.

Qualifications
* Evidence of basic level qualification in English and Maths or able to demonstrate equivalent experience.
Experience
* Previous experience of working within a care environment.
Skills
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Able to demonstrate a positive attitude and caring demeanor.
* Ability to challenge unacceptable behavior.
Knowledge
* An interest in healthcare services.
Additional
* Flexible and able to work on any ward and site within the Trust.
* Ability to work internal rotational shifts.
* Speak English to an appropriate standard relevant to their role.
