Vehicle Mechanic, JP Rentals, Edinburgh (Newbridge) Depot The Role: As one of our Vehicle Mechanics, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of vehicles on a daily basis playing a vital role in the smooth operations of our JP Rentals Division. Working with our skilled JP Team members, you will ensure our vehicles meet the highest standards of safety and performance. As a dedicated team player, you will take pride in your work and surroundings, delivering exceptional service to our customers. Your main duties will include the following: Perform general repairs and maintenance on a variety of vehicles across different makes and models. Conduct routine vehicle servicing, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks. Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in engine management systems, electrical systems, braking systems, and more. Prepare vehicles for MOT testing, ensuring they meet the required standards, including necessary repairs and replacements to pass inspections. Fit and balance tyres, perform wheel alignments, and inspect tyre conditions to ensure safety and optimal performance. Collaborate closely with other team members to maintain smooth daily operations in a busy environment. Are you the right person for this role? To be thrive in this role, you should have the following skill set: Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent qualification). Proven experience in vehicle diagnostics, maintenance, and repair, ideally with multi-fleet vehicles. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify and address complex technical issues. Attention to detail, with high standards in both the quality of work and safety, ensuring vehicles are roadworthy. Effective communication skills with ability to explain technical issues in simple terms to non-technical team members or customers. Experience working to deadlines and achieving set goals. A positive and proactive approach to your work, with a strong sense of responsibility and ownership over your tasks.
