Dorset Healthcare is responsible for administering vaccinations for adults and children as part of the biggest vaccination programme in history.
We are looking for Healthcare Assistants to support our vaccination teams across the Dorset county to deliver a variety of vaccines.
We’re looking for a proactive and caring HealthCare Assistant who is wanting to support the vaccination team at various sites across the county. We offer flexible working where possible.
Vaccination clinics are currently run at the following locations:
Bournemouth Vaccination Centre (KPU)
Wareham Hospital
Linden Unit, Weymouth
other locations throughout Dorset according to demand, and we do offer
occasional support to other IVS teams
All successful applicants will be required to work at all sites and so it is essential to be a driver with your own vehicle for work use.
Although this role is predominantly clinical some admin tasks are required.
This is a fixed term role and for those with current NHS service, the role will be offered on a secondment basis only. Please obtain permission to be released on a secondment before submitting an application.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a
new check.
Support with the configuration of the vaccination station, ensuring the availability of initial consumables, waste receptacles, trolleys and vaccines.
Prepare and administer vaccines in line with National Protocol
Be familiar with National Protocol and aware of Patient Group Directives
(PGD’s) for the vaccination.
Ensure waste control and sanitisation of the vaccination area.
Ensure waste control and sanitisation of the post-vaccination
observation area.
Support with the storage, transportation and delivery of vaccines
and equipment (e.g. collect and return vaccines to storage areas,
ensure disposal of used clinical equipment).
Ensure strict data and patient record confidentiality
Patient Safety and Clinical Governance
Assist in the monitoring and maintenance of the health, safety and
security of self and others in work area.
Assist in the identification and assessment risks in work activities.
Observe and maintain strict confidentiality with regards to any
patient/family/staff/records and information in line with the requirements
of the Data Protection Act.
Be prepared to travel to sites across the county and understand that our workload can be varied and dynamic, according to service requirements.
