Overview
The Clinical Coding Manager will be accountable for the strategy and development of our client’s coding related systems and services. You will be passionate about coding, be an Accredited Clinical Coder, with leadership qualities, and enthusiasm and drive to motivate our team of coders. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the coding staff with a view to the smooth running of the department to meet monthly deadlines. You should have proven ability to prioritise, plan, organise your workload and work under pressure, if required. The post holder will be a highly organised and experienced manager with a strong interest in quality management, development, and excellence in service delivery.
Salary: £65,000
The Role
1. Accountable for the Coding strategy
2. Take monthly 121;s with your team members and create individual and team objectives
3. Work customer cases where needed and respond within SLA
4. Ensure all customer cases are responded to within SLA
5. Strong management and leadership, ensuring workload is evenly distributed and the team are multiskilled
6. Support and train colleagues in clinical coding related matters
7. Educate customer and internal staff on how coding works and the principles of coding
8. Ensure all Coding related processes are updated
9. Ensure integrity of the coding process
10. Assess the market and keep up to date with external coding affairs
11. Publish coding standards on behalf of the company
12. Lead the ongoing development of the Healthcode ISC classification and liase with customers for new code development
13. Analyse Generic clinical code sets EMR / EHR systems
14. Analyse and support Pharmacy codesets – DM+D and BNF
15. Mapping clinical terminologies to clinical codes across several classifications including OPCS, CCSD, ICD10, ICD9 and Healthcode ISCs. And other more standard / global systems, SNOMED.
16. Map clinical codes to genders, anatomical classifications and specialties
17. Understanding customer’s codes are mapped and standardised, handling customer support issues and producing customer analysis and reports
18. Ensure provider Chargemaster mappings are maintained and developed
19. Work closely with the product owners on implementation of clinical code sets
20. Support coding development and standards to support business intelligence and reporting programmes
21. Plan and chair customer Coding workshops
22. Support the re-write of the claims clearing service
23. Support cross mappings of codesets
24. Build and maintain a Coding data dictionary and be responsible for the standards, distribution and publication
25. Keep up with the maintenance and standardisation of code sets
26. Evaluate available code sets and classifications to determine current and future suitability
27. Attend customer and insurer meetings where coding related topics need discussing
28. Support ongoing development of Healthcode’s coding related systems and services. Identifying opportunities for product enhancements and developments
29. Advise customers and internal teams on the best codes to use
30. Contract management between providers and insurers.

Qualifications
31. Educated to degree level or recognised equivalent
32. National Accredited Clinical Coder Qualification (ACC)
33. Experience
Proven managerial experience of managing a clinical coding team
34. High-level customer service experience
35. Experience of Implementation, review and undertaking of a structured coding audit programme and the writing of audit reports
36. Experience with CRM systems. Salesforce (desirable)
37. Clinical coding knowledge and experience
38. Understanding of operational procedures and QA process standards
39. Advanced knowledge of complex medical terminology and anatomy and physiology
40. Proven expertise and specialist knowledge in the application of the rules and conventions of ICD-10 and OPCS-4.
