Job summary Applications are invited for the full time post of Consultant Histopathologist with an interest in Cardiothoracic Pathology. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for a highly motivated individual to be part of a small team delivering tertiary care services with the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre (CTC). The Essex Cardiothoracic Centre (CTC) is an innovative and dynamic unit now in its 11th year. It provides a wide range of tertiary cardiothoracic services to the population of Essex and beyond. It is housed in a four storey, 14,000 square metre purpose-built unit with three specialist operating theatres and a hybrid lab. It has more than 100 beds, a dedicated cardiac critical care unit, four catheterisation labs for complex cardiology investigations including electrophysiology, complex CRM device implantations and the 24/7 primary PCI service, which is among the busiest in the UK, day stay facilities and outpatient clinics. There is a 64-slice CT scanner and a MRI scanner in house. Cardiothoracic surgery service includes lung cancer surgery, minimally-invasive CABG, mini-mitral valve, and sutureless aortic valve programmes.
