The Role
You will assist the Communications Manager in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences with all aspects of communications activity and campaigns aimed at achieving Faculty objectives.
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HaSS) is an exciting, multidisciplinary faculty structured around ten academic schools. The Faculty has a significant and diverse student population, with around 700 academic and research staff and 230 support staff across its range of disciplinary areas.
Working closely with colleagues in academic schools, the Faculty and the central Marketing Team, you will be required to maintain a high level of knowledge and expertise in relation to the recruitment of humanities, arts and social sciences students in the higher education environment and remain up to date with the latest marketing and communications developments, including the use of new technologies and best practice elsewhere in the sector.
Excellent copywriting, editing and proof-reading skills are essential for this role, along with experience of creating engaging and accessible content/copy for both digital and print channels.

Key Accountabilities
* Assist with development and implementation of communications plans for identified target audiences, to keep them informed and engaged with Faculty news and events.
* Support a wide range of duties relating to communications activities, including:
o Responding to enquiries, in collaboration with relevant Academic School, Faculty and University colleagues and teams
o Contributing to, and coordinating dissemination of information such as Faculty newsletters, Intranet pages and Events listings
o Provide support for Faculty events and activities, delivered by colleagues in Academic Schools and the Faculty
* Prepare monitoring and evaluation reports to track effectiveness and impact of messages using appropriate tracking tools and data.
* Collate and track existing and future content opportunities and assist with prioritisation of release
* Provide support to ensure that information provided is high quality and accurate, including:
o Assisting with the development of annual plans, in line with University and Faculty requirements
o Assisting with the development of messaging and content to be used across multiple communications channels.
* Develop editorial and content creation skills across different platforms and channels including email, web and content management systems (e.g. HubSpot). This will include sourcing, resizing and uploading appropriate images.
* Support activities delivered by the wider Communications and Student Recruitment Marketing team by assisting with logistical and administrative tasks as required.
* Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade as requested by the Faculty Communications Manager and/or Head of Communications and Student Recruitment Marketing.
Priorities and responsibilities may shift from time to time as the Faculty, Schools and the University respond to challenges and changes in the higher education sector. You will be required to be flexible and adapt.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* Excellent copywriting, editing and proof-reading skills and experience of creating engaging and accessible content/copy for both digital and print channels.
* Excellent interpersonal, team-working and communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with key stakeholders.
* Ability to manage large amounts of information and pay attention to detail.
* Excellent IT skills, including experience of MS Office packages.
* Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently, prioritise workload, work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
* Sound numeracy skills, with the ability to compile, interpret and report on communications performance using relevant analytics tools.
* Proven ability to use initiative, adopt a creative approach to problem solving, and exercise judgement to consult on and refer issues appropriately.
* Willingness and availability to work occasional unsocial hours (evenings and weekends) when required.
Qualifications
* Grades A-C in English Language and Mathematics at GCSE (or vocational qualifications or equivalent) plus demonstrable work experience in a relevant role and/or comparable setting.
* Degree or equivalent level qualification. (Desirable)
