Senior Ecologist - Wakefield Salary Range : Starting at £30,000 and upwards depending on experience

As a dynamic and growing business, we are looking for self-motivated and positive-minded Senior Ecologist to join our friendly team in our Wakefield office. Responsibilities include co-ordinating and undertaking protected species surveys and mitigation projects, advising clients of constraints and survey requirements and report writing.
Whether you are already a senior ecologist or looking to move up this position will provide you with an opportunity to build on your existing experience, leading and delivering on a range of projects. You will have the opportunity to mentor colleagues, ensure the production of high-quality reports, as well engaging with clients and their design teams to deliver high quality sustainable solutions. We have permanent roles available in our Wakefield office but welcome conversations from applicants in other locations. With a focus on regional site work and/or working with client project teams there will be a requirement for travel and occasional overnight stays as part of these roles. expenses and subsistence are paid, and we monitor working away closely to ensure the wellbeing of our staff.

A full clean UK driving licence;
A degree or equivalent qualification (N/SVQ Level 5) in Ecology or a related subject.
Have a minimum of 4 years' relevant work experience.
Understanding, and experience in the application, of UK environmental legislation and policy.
Experience in ecological field survey work (including to UKHab and protected species).
Have up to date knowledge of, and familiarity with, survey guidance for a range of protected species.
Experience in report writing (including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, management plans and Ecological Impact Assessments), and development of mitigation measures.
Be comfortable with and have experience in attending meetings and liaising with clients, contractors, sub-contractors and third-party stakeholders.
Be able to manage own workload, be proactive in managing projects and be able to delegate to and provide support to junior staff as appropriate.
Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), or equivalent professional body with professional code of conduct.

At least one Natural England (of other equivalent) protected species licence preferably Bat Survey Level 2 (or above).
Experience of Biodiversity Net Gain.
Have botany as a specialism who are, or could be certified at FISC level 3 or above.
