About the Role
Applications are invited for a Readership in Probability Theory. We are seeking to appoint an outstanding candidate in the general area of probability theory and its applications. Applicants whose work has had a significant impact outside of the university environment are particularly encouraged to apply.
About You
A successful applicant will have demonstrated exceptional track record of research excellence. He or she will be expected to develop a research platform within the School or to contribute to an existing one.
Candidates should also have a strong interest in pursuing excellence in teaching and supervising graduate students, as well as the ability and flexibility to teach across a range of topics in probability theory and its applications and mathematics and statistics in general at undergraduate.
About the School/Department/Institute/Project
The School is part of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, which comprises of five schools and two institutes. The Faculty’s student population has grown in recent years, both within the UK and overseas, and its research profile has strengthened considerably.
The School comprises 85 academic staff and associate lecturers, 16 research assistants and 14 members of professional services staff. The School is home to around 80 PhD students, and approximately 1,000 undergraduates and 100 master level students.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is full time, fixed term appointment for 1 year, with an expected start date of 1 September 2024 or as soon as possible after this date. The starting salary will be Grade 7, in the range of £61,896- £69,114 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
