Join HC-One as a Kitchen Assistant
At HC-One, we value kindness above all. It influences every aspect of our Dementia, Nursing, Residential, and Specialist care homes. Everyone here understands that our Residents are individuals with their own stories. By joining HC-One, you'll have a wonderful opportunity to give back to those people.
As a Kitchen Assistant, your responsibilities will include preparing and serving nutritious, healthy meals that residents love. You will uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene. Your tasks may include maintaining food supplies, managing fridge/freezer temperatures, training new starters on equipment use, or cleaning spills, always prioritizing Resident wellbeing.
We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant with some kitchen experience. Ideally, you will have an NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or be willing to study for one. Strong record-keeping and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to follow recipes. When communicating with Residents or colleagues, kindness and consideration are paramount.
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. You should recognize signs of possible abuse, harm, or neglect and know how to respond. All staff are required to attend safeguarding training relevant to their role and undertake additional training as needed. You should also be able to seek advice and report concerns appropriately, escalating issues when necessary.
We offer full training and support your learning. In return, you will have access to a variety of benefits to support your physical and psychological wellbeing, including:
* Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications
* Paid Enhanced DBS/PVG check
* Free uniform
* A nutritious meal during shifts of eight hours or more
* Company pension scheme
* 28 days annual leave, including bank holidays
* Group life assurance
* Wagestream for flexible access to your pay
* Learning and development opportunities, including qualifications
* GP online service for you and your children under 16
* Learning from experienced colleagues in a supportive team
* Colleague discounts at over 1600 high street stores
* Employee Assistance Programme offering 24/7 support for physical, mental, and financial issues
* Recognition schemes like ‘Kindness in Care’ and Long Service Awards
* Refer a Friend scheme with rewards up to £1000 per referral
We are committed to inclusive working practices and encourage applicants from all backgrounds. We aim for a quick onboarding process so you can start your journey with us promptly.
