Job summary An opportunity has arisen for motivated Radiographers with a specialist interest in Interventional Radiology to work within the Interventional and Hybrid Theatre suites along with Cardiac Cath Labs and the Radiology department, at Liverpool University Hospital. This role will bebased on the Aintree site. The role encompasses a full time Radiographer role for Interventional, Hybrid & Cardiac Catheter Lab. There is an expectation to work within theGeneral Radiology Department and participation in the 24/7 on call rota for acute Interventional and Vascular shift work is essential. For staff who have limited or no previous experience in Interventional, Hybrid Vascular or Cath Lab Imaging, we would be willing to offer a comprehensive training opportunity, this would be available to both band 5 and band 6 candidates under Annex 21 AFC Terms & Conditions. The post is ideal for a suitably experienced professional to extend their skills and experience whilst working in a truly team-based environment. We are a large department consisting of Interventional Radiographers, Nurses, Support staff and Radiologists. We also are part of the registrar teaching programme and have radiographers who have been trained to scrub as part of IR procedures. Main duties of the job The IR department has 2 IR theatres containing Siemens Artis Q systems, 1 Ultrasound room and a 5 bedded recovery area. The department covers a variety of procedures and specialties based at the Aintree site such as; Trauma, MFU/ENT, Regional Vascular and Regional Stroke. There are various roles within the team including RPS,QA, PPE audits and the general day to day running of the department. The purpose-built hybrid theatres complex has opened containing 3 theatres of which 2 are Vascular hybrids containing Siemens Artis Phenos. Staff must be willing to partake in shift week rotations alongside the On Call Rota to facilitate the OOH working required for Interventional Radiology and Vascular Theatres. Outside of radiology we also support the Cardiac Cath Lab, which is a single plane lab which undertakes Permanent Pacemaker implantations and Diagnostic coronary angiograms. Applicants must be willing to train and work in all areas of IR, Hybrid, Cath Lab and General Radiography. There is a need to work shifts and partake in an On Call Rota. All staff are responsible for reporting equipment faults and dealing with suppliers/clinical teams regarding equipment repair or emergency issues that need to be addressed. As part of work in the Cath Lab and Hybrid theatres there will be an aspect of working as the sole Radiographic practitioner and the responsibilities for safe working practises, high quality imaging and a key understanding of anatomical imaging are the key to this role.
