Indirect Tax Manager
Hays are working with a top 10 firm, who are looking to recruit an Indirect Tax Manager, Cambridge, based with flexible and hybrid working.
About the Role:
As governments shift from direct to indirect taxation, businesses face complex VAT systems. You will join a team working with clients from a variety of sectors helping them navigate these challenges and take control of indirect tax. These sectors include financial services, insurance, property, international supply chains, consumer business, healthcare, TMT, not-for-profit, and education.
Your Role:
1. Join a friendly, diverse Indirect Tax and VAT team.
2. Manage the scoping, delivery, and billing of client work, ensuring compliance with risk management processes.
3. Guide junior staff and support Directors and Partners.
4. Provide accurate VAT advice, backed by knowledge of legislation, case law, and technical analysis.
5. Tailor your business writing to different recipients and explain complex issues simply.
6. Use Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
7. Produce technical work that requires minimal review.
Requirements:
1. Experience in indirect/VAT taxes from advisory or in-house roles.
2. Level 4 tax or accounting qualification (e.g., ATT); CTA qualification (indirect tax route) is a plus.
3. Manage a varied portfolio of indirect tax clients.
4. Strong organisational, prioritisation, and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to lead projects in a mixed-discipline team.
6. Experience advising on complex UK tax issues is beneficial.
