Physiotherapist Specialist - Rotational Surgical Rehabilitation

An opportunity has arisen within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, for a Physiotherapist to join our specialist Surgical Rehabilitation rotation.
Rotating on a 9-monthly basis, you will have the opportunity to gain experience within a broad range of clinical areas. These include General Surgery, Trauma, Orthopaedics, Vascular, and community-based services (e.g., ALAC, and a community rehabilitation team - VCRS). You must be able to demonstrate the relevant skills, experience, and enthusiasm required to work within these clinical areas.
We offer you the opportunity to develop both your clinical and leadership skills. The Physiotherapy department provides full induction, a comprehensive programme of in-service training, regular appraisal, and opportunities for development.
You may be required to work your normal contracted hours flexibly in a variety of different working patterns in response to the needs of the service. This could include working your contracted hours as part of a service model that includes extended days/7-day job plans.

Main duties of the job
To work alongside members of the multidisciplinary team to deliver physiotherapy services to patients within these specialist clinical areas. This will include patients with multi-pathology and complex needs, as well as those with cognitive and behavioural problems.
The postholder will have responsibility for managing their own patient caseload. They will participate in the on-call service (overnight and weekends) where they will work independently, managing the respiratory needs of complex critically ill patients.
In addition, they will provide support for the clinical supervision of physiotherapists, student physiotherapists, and support staff.

Person Specification
Qualification
* Recognised qualification degree/equivalent in physiotherapy
* HCPC Registration
* Specialist training/courses to Postgraduate Diploma level
* Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
Experience
* Relevant post-registration experience in the specialist area
* Previous clinical experience relevant to the post
* Evidence of assisting in planning and developing an existing service
* Experience of providing clinical supervision
* Experience of teaching other disciplines
Skills
* Demonstrate specialist skills within the specialist area
* Excellent communication skills with healthcare professionals and the public
* Highly developed physical skills relevant to the specialist clinical area (e.g., manual techniques and therapeutic handling)
* Proven ability to motivate others, promote coproduction, and empower others
* Confident with digital technology platforms/apps
* Evidence of involvement in audit and research
Special Knowledge
* Relevant CPD evidence
* Awareness of Health and Safety/clinical risk management

* Participate and experience in emergency respiratory rota (if applicable to rotational role)
