If so, we invite you to join our dynamic team as a Support Worker - Mental Health.
About the Role:
As a Support Worker in Mental Health, you will provide direct support under the guidance of NDIS Behavior Support Practitioners and Allied Health Specialists. Your focus will be on empowering individuals by delivering personalised care and enabling them to participate in community activities.
This is not a clinical role, but your contributions in assisting with the implementation of behavior support plans and positive support strategies are crucial for the success of the participants.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support individuals in achieving their goals through person-centered plans.
* Provide safe transportation to programs, work, and social outings.
* Act as a positive role model through professional communication and behavior.
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to implement recovery-oriented strategies.
* Comply with medication protocols, including the administration of Schedule 8 drugs and chemical restraints.
* Complete accurate data collection and incident reporting.
* Respond to critical incidents with calm and de-escalating actions as per individual plans.
* Engage in continuous professional development.
Desired Skills and Experience
* Minimum Certificate IV in Mental Health.
* First Aid Certificates: HLTAID009, HLTAID010, HLTAID011.
* At least 2 years of experience working in the mental health or complex care sector.
* Strong documentation and reporting skills.
* Experience with behavior support, including restrictive practices and medication protocols.
* Experience working with people with intellectual disabilities.
* Relevant certification in CPI, MAPA, or Trauma-Informed Care.
* Mental Health First Aid Certificate.
