We are recruiting for an experienced Senior System Safety Engineer to work on a permanent basis. The ideal candidate will have experience in the Submarine-Maritime and Defence sectors and be confident in a role interacting with customers directly. As a System Safety Engineer, you will be carrying out a wide range of Safety Engineering activities across a variety of Defence projects. This position is with a niche specialist consultancy with a fantastic and growing Safety Engineering team and lots of ambition. Currently supporting clients on some of the most exciting and technically challenging projects in the defence sector, they offer hybrid/remote working with flexible patterns and believe that work-life balance is key to success, most of the team work remotely with one day per week on site in Bristol. Travel to client sites may be required depending on the project needs. Essential skills: Experience in the production and maintenance of Safety Reports and Plans: e.g., Safety Case Reports and Safety Management Plans. Experience in carrying out Hazard Identification and Hazard Analysis. Safety assessment and management experience working on UK Submarine programs either within the SDA or supporting the design and manufacturing activities of UK submarines. Nuclear Safety Design Justification (NSDJ) and Design Safety Justification Plans (DSJP). WOME & Strategic Weapons Systems safety assessments. Legislation Compliance Assessments and Statements. Hazard Log Management including eCassandra. Experience working on complex systems. Experience following the ASEMS process. Ability to work effectively across multiple projects. Desirable skills: Hazardous Materials Dossier production or maintenance. Experience in carrying out Fault Tree Analysis (e.g., Isograph Reliability Workbench). Requirements management. Experience with Failure Modes, Effects (and Criticality) Analysis. Knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering. Experience working with IEC 61508. Familiarity with ARP4754A, or DO178C/DO254 and ARP4761. Understanding of safety assurance of software and/or complex hardware. Understanding / experience working with DEF STAN 07-85. Electronics Engineering experience. Qualifications: Ideally degree qualified in an Engineering discipline. Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent experience is preferred.
