As an instrumental part of the construction delivery team, focusing on the delivery of a major construction project in Scotland, you will be based on-site daily, with one of BakerHicks' key clients in the Life Science industry. The Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and safety of all temporary works on the construction project. This role involves close collaboration with various stakeholders and contractors to ensure that temporary works are executed safely, effectively, and in compliance with relevant standards and regulations. This role is site-based, with substantial time spent in the field overseeing construction activities. The ideal candidate will preferably reside in the area (or surrounds), and able to travel to site daily. Responsibilities Coordination and Communication: Serve as the main point of contact for all temporary works-related matters. Facilitate communication between design, construction, and site teams. Planning and Scheduling: Develop and maintain a detailed temporary works register. Plan and coordinate the scheduling of temporary works to align with project timelines. Design Management: Review and approve temporary works designs, ensuring they meet project requirements and standards. Liaise with temporary works designers to resolve any design-related issues. Risk Assessment and Safety: Conduct risk assessments for all temporary works. Implement safety measures to mitigate identified risks. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Documentation and Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all temporary works, including design documents, inspection reports, and safety documentation. Ensure documentation is accessible to relevant personnel. Inspection and Monitoring: Oversee the installation, use, and removal of temporary works. Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with designs and safety requirements. Training and Competence: Ensure that all personnel involved in temporary works are adequately trained and competent. Provide ongoing training and support as necessary. Compliance and Regulations: Ensure all temporary works comply with UK legislation, industry standards, and best practices. Liaise with regulatory bodies as required. Key Deliverables Guidance: Guide the temporary works team, including designers and site supervisors. Promote a culture of safety and excellence. Advisor: Advise the project management team on temporary works matters. Provide technical support to resolve issues. Coordinator: Coordinate activities related to temporary works to ensure integration with permanent works. Collaborate with the permanent works team to ensure compatibility. Problem Solver: Identify and address issues related to temporary works. Develop solutions to ensure safe and efficient execution. Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality of temporary works meets required standards. Implement quality control measures. Requirements Qualifications Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Professional qualifications (e.g., ICE, IStructE) are advantageous. Experience Some experience in temporary works coordination or related roles in construction. Experience with design, implementation, and management of temporary works. Skills Strong understanding of temporary works design and construction processes. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures. Proficient in relevant software (e.g., CAD, project management tools). Knowledge In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety regulations and industry standards related to temporary works Additional Key Information For This Hire The role is primarily site-based, requiring the candidate to work in various outdoor environments and in close proximity to heavy machinery.
